Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams, Guy Clark, Vince Bell, and a who’s who of other Americana and Alt-Country Music greats tell the story of how a devoted community of artists, volunteers, and patrons transformed a politically subversive little neighborhood restaurant into a legendary American music institution. For 40 years, Houston’s folk and acoustic music venue, Anderson Fair Retail Restaurant, has fostered and nurtured some of America’s most important musical performers and songwriters. It has stubbornly bucked the odds and survived because of the dedication of a community of people with a common vision. Its struggle to survive in many ways mirrors the struggle of the individual artists. (99 mins.)
