Mark your calendar and save the date now for the 7th annual TriMedia Film Festival, September 7-9, 2012. Held in multiple venues in downtown Fort Collins, Colorado, it features independent films, TV pilots and specials, and original live theatre. The festival includes short and feature length films and documentaries, international films, comedies, the popular Film/TV/Theatre Industry Professionals Panel, parties, and more. Tickets go on sale in August when the festival schedule is announced.

In addition to film and TV, we have special categories for student films and original one-act plays. Feature films and feature-length documentaries are eligible for Choice City Award consideration. About the Festival…

Trimedia Film Festival Mission Statement:
The TriMedia Film Festival is an annual event of national stature that celebrates film, television, and theatre arts, and integrates emerging and established artists in all categories. The festival has an innovative “tri-media” focus featuring independent film, TV pilots/specials, and live theatre, with a PG-13 or equivalent rating limit. We will screen and exhibit entries from all over the world. We will encourage local filmmakers and writers by showcasing their work, and exhibit the winning entries from area student film festivals. The festival will create a competitive cultural and educational festival for Fort Collins that unites filmmakers, writers, and actors with film, TV, and theatre enthusiasts, and while bringing this terrific location to the attention of national production industry representatives.

The festival is held every September, the weekend after Labor Day, in multiple venues in “Old Town,” Fort Collins, Colorado.

Why the PG-13 Rating Limit
We’ve set a PG-13 (or equivalent) limit for three reasons: community, sponsors, and philosophy. First, we sought input from all facets of the Northern Colorado community in creating this event. One of the results was that a PG-13 rating is a better reflection of the community’s interests and activities. Second, the TriMedia Film Festival sponsors are community businesses that care about their corporate image, and prefer to be associated with works that meet community standards. Lastly, the festival organizers believe that filmmakers sometimes use language, nudity, or violence as the “easy way out” instead of telling a good story, and that filmmakers who can create edgy, thought-provoking films that are G or PG-13 should be given a place to showcase their work.

* The Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Film was given to “The Yankles,” directed by David R. Brooks.
* The Jury Award for Best Feature Film was given to “The River Why,” produced by Kristi Denton Cohen.

In addition to the jury and audience choice awards, the TriMedia Film Festival announced Jonathan Rhys Davies as its 2011 Trailblazer Award Winner. The Trailblazer Award recognizes an individual whose contributions are making an impact in the industry; who has shown leadership in advancing the arts; or who charts an innovative path though unexplored territory and encourages and blazes a trail for others.

The 6th annual TriMedia Film Festival showcased independent short and feature films; documentaries; original theatre performances; and television specials and pilots at venues in downtown Fort Collins.
